Where does the name NINA REIN come from again?
One of the most frequently asked questions from our customers is not whether it is difficult to design fair fashion, or whether sustainable, certified fabrics come in all colors. These questions are rarely asked.
The question that interests everyone is: Why is the brand called NINA REIN? Your real name is Julia, right?
That's right, my name is Julia and I founded NINA REIN. I didn't want to work for conventional fashion companies anymore, I wanted to make sustainable fashion. It's about our environment, which finally needs to be treated better. And also about the principle and principles. Why should I design clothes that I wouldn't wear myself in good conscience?
My principles here are very clear:
- We only work with companies that work fairly and to high standards. We also give individual seamstresses the chance to work directly with us and receive a fair wage.
- We only use natural materials, sustainable or organic, and very little plastic. As soon as there are organic zippers that work well, we will definitely switch to them. We welcome tips and suggestions on the subject.
- Everything is transparent and fair. Of course, customers can check where their clothes come from and what material they contain. And all year round, not just on Fashion Revolution Day.
- Appreciation for other people, craftsmanship and the clothing itself also plays a big role. This is the only way to create a sustainable fashion brand like NINA REIN. That's why all of our clothing is Made in Europe.
And hence the name. NINA REIN. My mother's maiden name, who gave me all these good values. I really appreciate what she has done and am deeply grateful for her support in every situation in life.
