Bianca - Question of Style
Bianca is a style consultant in Munich and we got to know and appreciate her during a spontaneous phone call. She is a fashion professional and told us in an interview how she got into her job and how she feels about sustainability. You will also find out what she considers the absolute must-haves in her wardrobe.
How did you get into style consulting?
My calling began very early. As a child, I loved fabrics and fabric shops and really wanted to be a seamstress. No sooner said than done: As a trained seamstress, I was able to live out this love to my heart's content - later also for well-known fashion magazines such as Marie Claire, Celebrity, Cosmopolitan and Joy. During this whole time, I have constantly reinvented my own style.
Since I love fashion, fabrics and colors, I wanted to help everyone express themselves through their clothes and have as much fun with them as I do. For this reason, I founded my company Stilfrage in November 2009 and went online in 2010.
What impresses you about your customers?
On the one hand, of course, that they are prepared to think about themselves and their external appearance. On the other hand, they trust me. I have an unusual style and am very versatile. It might be obvious that many people think that I project my style onto my customers. But that is not the case. I listen and find the right look for every woman.
I am impressed that they are inspired and motivated by me to start their own process. Be it with the topic of "self-love" and "self-esteem" or "the fun of clothing". And I don't mean "chasing" individual trends. I want to raise awareness and attention and I especially hope that women become aware of their femininity again. It is simply great to see how they absorb my specialized knowledge full of curiosity and embrace my practical skills. There is always a spark of live coaching in every consultation. "It does something to you". Because only when women feel attractive and self-confident does it influence their external appearance and their entire demeanor. It is nice to be a woman.
Do you have fashion role models? What fascinates you about the person?
I am fascinated by all kinds of women. They are not fashion role models in the true sense of the word, but I like their style and the way they affect us. Whether it is the nonchalance of French women who choose their looks without any effort, or outfits like those of Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City - which are always a little over the top. I really like the 1970s style of Farrah, Jaclyn and Kate in the series Charlie's Angels. Simply charming, ladylike and stylish.

Since when have you been paying attention to sustainability in your life? And in your clothing?
I don't even remember when it started exactly, but it was a while ago. As a trained seamstress, I have always been drawn to beautiful fabrics and materials. I like to feel things and that is always an experience with natural materials such as silk, cashmere or fine wool. These materials cling to my skin and make me feel wonderful. It is important that the materials come from nature and animals, from fair farming. This is the only way to be sustainable. It is also not important how much we have in our closets. Conscious consumption is the key word and I convey this in my consultations and when I go shopping with customers. We only buy after checking our closets, because that is where sustainability begins.
Thank you very much, dear Bianca, for this exciting interview!
