At AMELI ZURICH, everything revolves around handbags. But it is much more than that. With its elegant, chic, practical business bags, AMELI ZURICH wants to encourage women to present themselves more confidently and stronger. Each piece is designed in Switzerland and made in Italy from genuine leather.
We interviewed Christina Stahl, founder of AMELI ZURICH.

How and when did the idea for AMELI ZURICH come about?

AMELI was born last year out of a desire not to have to make any compromises when it comes to handbags for women. In management consulting in particular, you travel a lot for work and up until now I hadn't had a bag that was both functional and elegant.

You attach great importance to sustainability, quality and design. What other aspects play an important role in your company?

I believe sustainability, quality and design are actually the most important aspects when it comes to our products. In general, as a company we want to strive for more and better, which means we also pay attention to fair working conditions and support women. As far as sustainability with my own resources is concerned, I still need to practice ;)

Do you pay as much attention to sustainability in your private life as you do in your professional life?

I think the standard is there, but of course there is always room for improvement. I try to buy as much local and seasonal food as possible and my clothing style is timeless and high quality so that I can wear my clothes more often than the average of 7 times.

How do you choose your product colors?

This is still a difficult area where we still need to improve. We choose the product colors based on small leather samples. Often, however, the bags look completely different on the entire bag and it would be nice if it were no longer a guessing game in the future. Apart from that, it is a mix of what I like, i.e. very simple colors, and what our customers want .

Are your products a statement for female empowerment?

Yes. I firmly believe that our products make life easier for (working) women because they are classic and at the same time meet all functional needs. It's a shame that the rest of the bag industry has so far paid so little attention to the fact that women also work - there are no laptop bags for women from the big players, but there are for men.

You donate 5% of your profits to education and careers for women, and you also want to support even more organizations in the future. There are an infinite number of organizations, how do you choose which ones to support?

The education of women is incredibly important to us. It creates prospects, improves prosperity in the world and ensures greater equality. There are so many organizations in this area alone and every year it is a decision based on gut feeling as to which country with which focus, etc.

What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of being a founding team?

We know each other and each other's weaknesses very well and, in our case, we complement each other, but often the distance is missing because we always have work to do .

What tips do you have for founders?

Start and work. A lot of things only become clear when you do them . As Shonda Rhimes says : Stop dreaming, start doing.

We would like to thank Christina and look forward to further cooperation!
